Smartwatch is a new type of gadget, first developed by Sony and part of the modern tecnology known as "wereable computer" (alongside with the Google Glasses)
Basically, is computered watch with Android wich uses bluetooth to connect with our smartphone.
The smartwatch is a new type of PDA, as it works as a diary, a GPS device, a mail service captable device, and a social network gadget.
It also includes a SMS control and Incoming Call control if you link it witth yout smartphone.
The first modern smartwatch was developed by Sony (there were some types of smartwatches before) and was compatible with a lot of smatphones, being the only requirement to have Android 4.0+.
But now, there are some new gadgets, like the Pebble, wich uses a screen similar to the e-Readers, or the Samsung Galaxy Gear.
This brand new gadgets are useful, but, are they useful enough? Well, that's a opinion topic.
For me, this time they are not enough complete to be a necesary gadget. In a few years, the developers problably make some new functionalities (Like pay by NFC) wich will make them quite better devices.

Los Smartwatches son un nuevo tipo de gadget, desarrollados inicialmente por Sony y que foman parte de la llamada "wearable computer" un tipo de tecnología que junto a las Google Glasses.
Basicamente es un reloj computerizado y con Android.
Funciona como una PDA, teniendo una agenda, un GPS, un servicio de e-Mail y tiene acceso a las redes sociales como Facebook o Twitter.
Además, si lo conectas a un smartphone puedes controlar SMS y Llamadas desde el reloj.
El primer smartwatch moderno (pues se fabricaron varios modelos que servirían como base antes) fue desarrollado por Sony. Sin embargo, actualmente hay varios modelos más, como el Galaxy Gear de Samsung o el Pebble, que usa una pantalla similar a la de los e-Readers.
Estos dispositivos son útiles.. ¿pero, merecen la pena?
Yo pienso que no. No tienen suficiente uso y son caros. Sin embargo, en unos años, e incluyendo nuevas características como el pago por NFC pueden ser mucho más interesantes.
