A hooligan is a person who cause disturbance in the streets and who usually participate in fights or acts related to vandalism while he or she is supporting a soccer team.
The
word hooligan
is mainly used to talk about the soccer supporters from Britain, who
before, during and after some matches have violent attitudes.
However, there aren't hooligans just in Britain's football, they are
also common in Argentina, Spain, Italy and many other countries.
In
my opinion, the biggest problem with those people isn't the material
damage they cause by breaking bins, destroying pubs or messing the
streets; it's the feeling of fear that they make some people (even
kids) have while they are trying to have fun supporting their team
peacefully and the unnecessary deaths they sometimes cause.
I
think those people who use the excuse of soccer to get involved in
fights or different acts of vandalism must be seriously punished,
because they are messing football reputation and bothering people who
really like soccer.
